Source Naturals SAMe is a stable, bioavailable form of S-Adenosyl-L-methionine. these tablets are enteric coated and blister packed to prevent breakdown and inactivation of the ingredients. Dozens of clinical studies have demonstrated that SAMe supports joint comfort, function and mobility in the spine, hips and knees. It is important to the joints because of its critical role in cartilage formation. SAMe helps to form proteoglycans, which are used to renew the matrix of cartilage. The studies also show that SAMe helps support a positive outlook. It is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, where it affects the synthesis and activation of various proteins, such as neurotransmitters. SAMe also plays a role in transmethylation. Transmethylation reactions effect the synthesis, activation, and metabolism of various different biological molecules. Some compounds that SAMe methylates are phospholipids. This is a fundamental step in the mediation of cell to cell communication. SAMe is present in every living cell in the body and plays an important part in many critical cellular functions. Save a buck! Or not...

OK, here's the deal: I go to my health food store (which I try to love and support) and find my SAMe.... And it costs me $10 more than the same product ordered through Amazon! Bummer! But I want to support my local retailer.... What a problem! My solution: buy the cheaper essentials (chocolate and the other basic food groups) locally and get my chemicals online... At least when I'm sure what I'm getting is the same product.

OH, and yes, SAMe does make me feel better. It seems to help my joint aches and (REALLY) improves my mood (no more chronic mild depression... well... at least not till I watch the evening news!). No anxiety seen with 200 mg or 400 mg taken once a day. I do take it in the morning since poking around on the internet suggests that it might interfere with sleeping and it's supposed to work better at bypassing the stomach acids when taken on an empty stomach.

I bought this brand to compare it with the Life Fitness brand that I bought from CVS. This is as good as the Life Fitness brand for a lower price. It is also packed in blister foil for maximum protection which is not mentioned in the description.

In my opinion, if you have tried an expensive brand of SAMe and it helped you, then the Source Naturals brand is probably just a good for much less. At least this was my expereince.

I am not in the medical profession but I read that it is recommended to take a B complex vitamin supplement with SAMe, and since this brand does not contain B complex unlike the Life Fitness brand, then you may want to buy B complex separately.

This product was recommended by our vet for a dog with a liver problem. Levels were monitored and the SAM-e is working. Sorry we have not tried taking this ourselves.
Just as good as the higher priced brands

I am signed up for Subscribe and Save. I got two deliveries of this product, but the next one didn't come. Now I have discovered that with no explanation, and no way of finding out why, it will no longer be shipped to Alaska! Weird. I am not impressed by the service, though the product was all right. Not as good as Nature Made, but all right.
